Job Description:

Position: Claims Administration Officer
Government level: APS4
Location: Brisbane, QLD
Initial Contract Length: 6 months plus possible extensions
Estimated Contract Start: February 2022
Essential: Australian Citizenship
 
The duties may include but are not limited to:
1.    Undertake claims investigations and determinations.
2.    Provide advice and interpretation, including in writing, on aspects of legislation to colleagues, senior managers and clients.
3.    Liaise with Department staff, clients, and outside organisations to reach timely and correct determinations on claims.
4.    Undertake tasks and projects to enhance the quality and consistency of service to clients and operational efficiency.
5.    Manage complex claims.
6.    Examine work practices on a continuing basis to ensure tasks/procedures are being carried out in an effective, efficient and timely manner.
 
In addition to the duties outlined above, it would be ideal for candidates to have:
  • Caseload management experience, handling and maintaining a large claims caseload and experiencing in having difficult conversations.
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills and the ability to write detailed and clearly articulated case summaries in accordance with policy and procedures, or the ability to quickly acquire these skills.
  • Highly developed organisational skills and an enquiring mind with a demonstrated ability to think analytically, set personal work priorities and work under pressure in a fast paced team.
  • The ability to acquire knowledge of the relevant legislations and the associated policies and procedures, in a short timeframe.
  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new and changing technology and work effectively in a digital, paperless environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to maintaining and updating technical knowledge and to your ongoing learning and development.
  • A motivated and enthusiastic individual with a proven ability for building effective working relationships with team members, clients and internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in meeting and exceeding performance targets and milestones.
Claims Administration Officers are required to achieve agreed claims output and quality standards within a reasonable time frame. These standards are set out in a formal accreditation program and will perform part of the team member’s performance agreement.
